La Rose

A veces las personas necesitan abrazos. No sé si soy diferente de las otras personas, pero necesito muchos abrazos. Esto no fue un problema cuando yo era niña, porque mi papá también necesitaba muchos abrazos. Pero ahora, como no estoy tan cerca a mi papá, es más dificil llenar este espacio de mi vida. Pero ayer, en Bolivia, me encontré a alguien a quien también le gusta abrazar. Ella se llama Rose y es la hija de dos missioneros de Maryknoll aquí en Cochabamba. Ella tiene siete años y una hermana dos años mayor, igual que yo. Primero ella fue un poco tímida pero con el tiempo ella juegaba con mi pelo y se sentaba en mis rodillas y caminaba de mi mano entre los flores de la festival de Tiquipaya. Cuando fue el tiempo de salir, ella no quería y su mamá me dijo ¨Ay, parace que has encontrado una amiga nueva.¨
Le respondí, ¨Si, que suerte tengo yo,¨ y eso yo sentí muy fuerte. Hay cosas que necesitamos como ser humanos y ayer necesité a la Rose.

Sometimes people need hugs. I don´t know if I am different then other people, but I have always needed a lot of hugs. This wasn´t a problem when I was younger, because my dad also needs a lot of hugs. But now that I don´t live so close to my dad it is at times more difficult to fill this space in my life. Yesterday, though, I found someone that also likes to hug. Her name is Rose and she is the daughter of two Maryknoll Lay Missioners here in Cochabamba. She is seven years old and has a sister that is two years older than her, the same as me. At first she was a little bit shy, but with time she played with my hair, sat in my lap, and walked with her hand in mine between the sunflowers and gladiolas at the Flower Festival in Tiquipaya. When it was time to leave she didn´t want to go, and her mom said to me, ¨My, it looks like you have founda new friend.¨
I responded, ¨Yes, I am very lucky,¨ and I felt this strongly. There are things that we need as human beings and yesterday I needed Rose.
